If you have noticed a large number of hot air balloons on the Boise skyline over this past week, you’ve witnessed one of the great local festivals that give the Treasure Valley its charm. The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic is an iconic local event that features thousands of hot air balloons that take flight each morning for five days. This year signifies the 22nd year that the Balloon Classic has launched from Ann Morrison Park.
The festival began in 1991 in conjunction with the Boise River Festival, and has since made a name for itself as a trademark local event and family tradition. The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic is now recognized as one of the largest balloon festivals in the country.
One of the festival’s most popular events is the Night Glow. This will take place tonight (Friday, August 30) with balloonists arriving at 6:00pm. Attendees will have to opportunity to see hot air balloon demonstration inflations, listen to live music by The Big WOW Band, and enjoy food from the large selection of vendors available. The Night Glow itself will begin at approximately 8:15pm.
Spectators are also welcome to attend the balloon lift offs on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. For more information about the event schedule, please visit the Boise Balloon Classic website at www.spiritofboise.com.
